Welcome to Messiah Community Church’s Love Does Challenge! All month we are celebrating love in action. Through our weekly challenges and guest preachers, we are creating opportunities to not just say “I love you,” but to show it.

“I used to think you had to be special for God to use you, but now I know you simply need to say yes.” ~ Bob Goff

Just say yes! Join us fully and openly in this challenge to DO love this month. As you complete the challenges share with us. Let us know what you did and how it impacted you. Follow us on social mediaFacebook, Instagram, Twitter, and tag us using hashtag #MCCDoesLove.

As a bonus, each week we’ll choose a social media follower to receive a copy of Bob Goff’s book Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World.

WEEK 1, July 7-13: Love Encourages

I used to think being a believer was enough, but now I know Jesus wants us to participate, no matter what condition we’re in. ~Bob Goff

CHALLENGE: This week take a few moments to write an encouraging note to someone who needs it. This could be a neighbor, coworker or someone you don’t interact with regularly, but you know there’s a need. Don’t overthink it. It could be long paragraph, but it could also be your favorite scripture, inspiring quote or a joke! Laughter is good for the soul.

WEEK 3, July 21-27: Love Affirms

I used to think the words spoken about us describe who we are, but now I know they shape who we are. ~ Bob Goff

CHALLENGE: Although love is communicated in a number of ways, our words and thoughts often reflect the condition of our heart. Often some of our most discouraging words come from ourselves, our fears, our own self-doubt. How many of us have received a compliment and instead of just saying “thank you,” you downplayed it or said something negative about yourself? This week resolve to offer yourself grace and to say or think nothing negative about yourself at all. If you do, redirect your thoughts and replace them with something positive and encouraging. Love on YOU!
